Fans of architecture and photography alike will linger over each of the exquisite photographs that highlight the physical artistry of Georgia’s courthouses.  Organized by travel regions and highlighting a mix of historic and present-day courthouses, this book pays tribute to the importance these buildings hold in our local communities.  At once a social history as well as architectural record and photography showcase, Courthouses of Georgia deserves a place in every Georgian’s home.

ABOUT THE BOOK – Available Fall 2014

Only a handful of the courthouses showcased in this book have been serving Georgians longer than the organization behind its creation.  ACCG, Georgia’s county association, conceived the idea for the book to commemorate ACCG’s 2014 centennial.  The partnership that brought it to fruition includes the University of Georgia Press, the
Georgia Humanities Council, and Newington Photography.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Greg Newington’s fine art and commercial work has appeared in more than 300 publications worldwide.  Greg has worked in Australia, the Middle East, Africa, and throughout Asia and the U.S. for more than 40 years as both a photojournalist and as a fine arts photographer.  He currently splits his time between Australia and his studio in Serenbe Community in south Fulton County, Georgia.

ABOUT THE WRITING RESOURCE

Few resources could coordinate, manage, and deliver an undertaking of this scope with the aplomb of the University of Georgia Press – Georgia’s oldest and largest book publisher.  With invaluable input from the Georgia Humanities Council, University of North Georgia history lecturer Dr. George Justice edited down more than a century’s worth of facts and fascination into a beautiful narrative naturally at home alongside these magnificent photographs.
